You have finally finished your long, painful mattress hunt and finally found that fantastic mattress for you and your partner. Now let’s make sure you have all the tips for cleaning your new awesome expensive pocket sprung mattress.
When the bed is wet, cover the area with baby powder for a few hours.
Allow the baby powder to absorb the moisture out of the mattress.
Sponge the area with a damp cloth soaked in white vinegar.
If possible, put the mattress under the sun.
Putting the mattress out in the sun is the best way not only to dry the mattress quickly, but the sunlight also sanitizes the urine and getting the remaining stink out of the mattress.
It is possible to spot-clean your food spills or red wine stains.
You can wash your mattress by using warm and soapy water.
Wipe the area with a damp(not soapy wet) sponge.
Allow the area to dry thoroughly
Do not push in and try to rub the stain off.
It will only make the interior padding wet.
You can use a hairdryer to blow-dry the mattress surface.
Please don’t be shy about it. Bloodstain does happen on the mattress, and here is what you can do.
You can get a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide from the shaving and medical section of the supermarket.
Apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to the area, and it should start to “bubble”
Use a clean white cloth to blot the stain until it comes away.
You might have to do this multiple times to get it all out.
Once it is all out, allow it to dry under the sun.
Mould and mildew are harmful to your health.
Attend to it right away. Your mattress is absorbing too much moisture, and mould and mildew started to accumulate.
The best thing is to place it under the sun the whole day.
Direct sunlight can kill mould and germs within the mattress.
To get rid of a mouldy spot, you can get a bottle of isopropyl alcohol from the chemist.
Place isopropyl alcohol as well as some warm water and sponge it into the mould area. Place the mattress under the sun and allow it to dry out.
Make sure your bedroom is nice and dry.
Open your window and let the breeze come inside the bedroom.
Mould and mildew are bad for health.
Do not ignore that mouldy smell within your bed and bedroom.
Every few months, strip everything off your bed.
Vacuum the surface of your mattress. Especially the gap between the stitching, those are places that accumulate your dead skin and dust mites quickly.
Soda powder can be very effective in absorbing all the moist within the mattress.
Spread soda powder across the mattress and let it sit for a couple of hours.
Vacuum the mattress after a couple of hours.
Regularly air-out your mattress also helps to keep your mattress odour-free.
Remember to always use a waterproof mattress protector for your fantastic new mattress.
That way, you will be surprised how much extra life you can get from your expensive investment.
